When you call 9-1-1, be prepared to answer the call-taker’s questions, which may include:

  • The location of the emergency, including the street address
  • The phone number you are calling from
  • The nature of the emergency

Details about the emergency, such as a physical description of a person who may have committed a crime, a description of any fire that may be burning, or a description of injuries or symptoms being experienced by a person having a medical emergency.

Remember, the call-taker’s questions are important to get the right kind of help to you quickly. Be prepared to follow any instructions the call-taker gives you. 9-1-1 call centers can tell you what to do until help arrives. Do not hang up until the call-taker instructs you to do so.

Become a Volunteer

It takes dedication and many hours of training to become a firefighter. If you’re willing to put in the time and effort, the Hammonton Fire Department is ready for you to apply.

The Hammonton Fire Department is made up of two fire companies, perspective members may apply to either fire company for membership, and is based on an applicant’s preferences as well as geographic location.

You can find our members at your local fire houses on Front Street (Station 1) and the White Horse Pike (Station 2), every Wednesday evening for routine training, equipment & building maintenance, company business and department drills.

Please stop by and get to know the members; it may be one of the most rewarding things you do!
