The Town of Hammonton is set to enhance its water infrastructure through the Route 54 Water Main Replacement Project, which spans from 1st Road to 2nd Road and carries a construction cost of $3,102,000. This initiative is funded by the New Jersey Water Bank (NJWB), a State Revolving Fund program that collaborates with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and the New Jersey Infrastructure Bank (NJIB). The NJWB utilizes a mix of funding from the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the DEP, and the NJIB to offer low-interest loans for environmental infrastructure projects.
By replacing outdated water mains and service lines, this project aims to significantly enhance water quality, reliability, and public health. The upgrades will not only increase the capacity and efficiency of the water distribution system along Route 54 but also improve water pressure and fire protection, while reducing the risk of main breaks and service disruptions. This modernization effort will ensure a consistent supply of safe drinking water for residents and businesses, support emergency services, and promote future growth, ultimately bolstering the long-term resilience of Hammonton's water infrastructure. State Revolving Fund programs across the country play a crucial role in providing communities with the necessary resources to safeguard and improve the infrastructure that protects our vital water resources.
