Everyone 6 months of age and older should get a yearly flu shot. Adults age 65 and older, children younger than 5, pregnant people, and those with chronic health conditions such as kidney disease, asthma, diabetes, and heart disease are at greater risk for developing serious flu complications. Getting vaccinated can prevent severe illness, doctor visits, missed work and school, hospitalization, and death.
In addition to the recommended yearly flu shot, you can help stop the spread of germs:
• Cover coughs and sneezes
• Wash hands frequently
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
• Clean and disinfect commonly touched surfaces
• Avoid close contact with persons who are sick
• Stay home when you are sick
