The Town of Hammonton is seeking a full time Laborer to work in our Public Works Department. Duties include but not limited; to general maintenance, buildings and grounds, leaf collection and general labor. Qualified candidates will be required to have a valid New Jersey Drivers License and be able to safely operate common power/hand tools, chain saws and various types of equipment. 40 hours a week, yearly salary $33,280.00.

Town of Hammonton Fire Protection Subcode Official • Part Time

The Town of Hammonton is seeking a qualified, part time, Subcode Official. We strive for a dedicated and highly motivated individual to join our team. This position involves working a 16 hour work week and pays $45.00 per hour.

License:

Applicants must possess a valid license as a Fire Protection Subcode Official issued by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs.

Examples of work:

  • Inspects and evaluates construction work in projects under way to ensure that all work installed conforms to the requirements of the approved plans and the fire protection subcode and the regulations of the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code.
  • Has the responsibility in supervising the code compliance for the fire protection subcode of all construction and contractors to ensure that required standards are observed in accord with approved plans and specifications.
  • Take the initiative in halting construction work by contractors when and if reasonable standards of workmanship, safety, plans, specification, and/or legal requirements are not being observed.
  • Collects and records permits and other fees, and verifies that required prior approvals have been obtained.
  • Issues on-site warnings, citations, and stop work orders in cases of serious violations of the adopted subcode or regulations that might endanger the health, safety, and/or welfare of the public or building occupants.
  • Prepares and supervises the preparation of recommendations regarding both temporary and final certificates of occupancy.

Town of Hammonton Public Safety Telecommunicator • Full and Part Time Positions Available

The Town of Hammonton is seeking a full and part time Public Safety Telecommunicator. Certification to be a 911 call-taker or dispatcher is required for this position. Visit https://www.nj.gov/911/ for certification information. Bilingual Spanish-speaking a plus but not necessary. We strive for a dedicated and highly motivated individual to join our team. This critical position involves dispatching services for the Hammonton Police and Fire Departments and Rescue Squad out of our dispatch center. The Public Safety Telecommunicator will be responsible for handling emergency and non-emergency calls, ensuring the safety and security of our community. Pay rate is $16-$18.50 per hour based upon candidate’s experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Answer and prioritize emergency (911) and non-emergency calls, providing prompt and accurate information to the appropriate response units.
  • Monitor multiple communication channels, including radio, telephone, and computer systems, to coordinate timely and effective responses.
  • Maintain accurate records of all communications, calls, and dispatches using our computer system.
  • Ensure seamless communication between all public safety departments and responding units.
  • Collaborate with other agencies and departments as needed to provide comprehensive public safety services.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to maintain up-to-date knowledge of dispatch procedures and protocols.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

Town of Hammonton Wastewater Treatment Supervisor • Full Time

Supervisor candidate is expected to assure that treatment operations for the Wastewater facility remain in compliance with applicable governing regulations at all times. Work schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; however, candidate must be available to be contacted at all times to respond to emergencies.

Responsibilities • Include but are not limited to

  • Maintaining compliance with all Federal and State operating permits.
  • Ensure that all treatment processes are functioning properly, and that the health and welfare of the Town of Hammonton residents, and the environment are top priorities.
  • Analyze daily laboratory data.
  • Compile, analyze, and submit all state required permits and reports, monthly, quarterly, and annually.
  • Continually update permits for all pumping stations and the Wastewater treatment facility.
  • Knowledge of federal and state environmental laws and regulations pertaining to wastewater treatment.
  • Willing to learn our public water system and obtain the necessary licenses to operate the system.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Expert knowledge of process and operational areas.
  • A mechanical/maintenance background.
  • Computer skills a bonus.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years work experience in the wastewater industry.
  • 5 years of supervisory or managerial experience preferred but not necessary.
  • New Jersey Wastewater Treatment License required as follows: S-3.
