Tax Sale will be held electronically on December 19th, 2024
The Tax Office would like to take this opportunity to provide as much information as possible regarding the Tax Sale Period in November/December. We understand that this is a busy time of year and hope that by summarizing the important dates and methods of payment, everyone can plan accordingly. All Water/Sewer and Property Tax delinquent balances over $10.00 may be subject to Tax Sale, which will take place electronically on Thursday, December 19, 2024, as outlined in N.J.S.A. 54:5-1 Tax Sale Law.
The Tax Office will be closed November 5, (Election Day) and November 11 (Veteran’s Day). The grace period for November payments will be Tuesday, November 12. Be sure to allow at least 3-4 days when mailing payments. Postmarks are not accepted and payments must reach us on or before November 12 to avoid interest and tax sale costs. Reminder notices will not be mailed, so please contact the Tax Office for an up-to-date balance. Beginning Wednesday, November 13, credit cards, personal checks and online payments will no longer be accepted for accounts that are past due.
Tax Sale List will be created and sent to RealAuction on November 15. At this point, cash, cashier’s check or money orders will be the only acceptable method of payment. Online payments will also be unavailable. Again, this process only affects those property owners that are delinquent. Tax Sale Notices will be mailed the week of November 18, and will list the methods of payment being accepted. If we receive personal and/or business checks in the mail during this time period, we will return them to you with a note stating the proper procedure for payment.
Additional Important Dates:
- November 28/29 – Tax office closed for the Thanksgiving Holiday
