Illegal dumping is a serious problem in many U.S. communities. It can threaten public health, safety, property values, and quality of life. Demolitions, moving, and evictions may result in the dumping of construction and demolition debris or other household items in the community. Motives for offenders might include those running unpermitted transfer stations or recycling operations that are then abandoned or demolition contractors avoiding disposal costs by illegally dumping their waste at either vacant or rural locations. On Monday, August 18, a single lane, alternating traffic pattern will be in effect along Egg Harbor Road in Hammonton between Route 54 and Route 30.   Traffic Advisory: Route 54 (Bellevue Avenue) in both directions is scheduled to be closed due to NJ TRANSIT railroad crossing work and track replacement in Hammonton. The area will be closed to traffic, at the intersection between Railroad Avenue and Egg Harbor Road from Friday, August 22 through Friday, August 29. The 2025 final/2026 preliminary tax bills will be mailed by Friday, August 8.  The grace period has been extended to Thursday, September 11, and payments must reach our office on or before this date to avoid paying interest.  Interest is calculated back to the original due date of 8/1/25.  Water/Sewer bills are due now with a 10 day grace period.  Please remember that taxes and utility payments should be made with a separate check.  Thank for your patience and understanding during this process.
