Public Safety Telecommunicator • Full and Part Time Positions Available

The Town of Hammonton is seeking a full and part time Public Safety Telecommunicator. Possession of, or the ability to obtain a 911 call-taker or dispatcher certification, is a plus but not mandatory. Work experience with this position can be taught onsite during regular work hours. We strive for a dedicated and highly motivated individual to join our team. This critical position involves dispatching services for the Hammonton Police and Fire Departments and Emergency Medical Services out of our dispatch center. The Public Safety Telecommunicator will be responsible for handling emergency (911) and non-emergency calls, ensuring the safety and security of our community.

Hourly pay rate is $18-$24 per hour, based upon candidate’s experience. Full-time position includes single coverage benefits, medical, dental, vision, participation in the state pension plan, paid time off and opportunities for overtime pay.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Answer and prioritize emergency (911) and non-emergency calls, providing prompt and accurate information to the appropriate response units.
  • Monitor multiple communication channels, including radio, telephone, and computer systems, to coordinate timely and effective responses.
  • Maintain accurate records of all communications, calls, and dispatches using our computer system.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to maintain up-to-date knowledge of dispatch procedures and protocols.
