Notice: Hammonton Mosquito Control Spraying

Weather permitting, the Atlantic County Office of Mosquito Control plans to

treat parts of the Town of Hammonton as part of its ongoing effort to control adult mosquitoes.

In Hammonton, spraying to reduce adult mosquitoes using aerial application equipment will take place on Wednesday evening August 28th, between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm. The areas to be treated are bounded by a line that starts at the intersection of the Hammonton/Folsom border and the Atlantic County boundary and continues Southeast to Rt. 54, then Northeast along Rt. 54 to Rt. 30, then North along Rt. 206 to the intersection with Basin Rd., then Northwest to the Atlantic County boundary, then Southwest to the starting point.

Aerial spraying will be done using Fyfanon, the trade name for Malathion, applied as an ultra-low volume aerosol.

If weather conditions prevent the application on 8/28/24, the alternate date is 8/29/24.

The EPA does not require relocating or taking special precautions during mosquito control spraying, people may choose to avoid or minimize exposure by:

  • Staying indoors during application to immediate area
  • Keeping windows shut, window fans and window air conditioners off (or set    to circulate indoor air) during spraying
  • Keeping children’s toys indoors
  • Keeping pets indoors, as well as their food, water dishes and toys.
