The Hammonton Fire Department is asking everyone to check the fire hydrants near your home or business. Fire hydrants are a critical lifeline for firefighters, and they must remain accessible at all times.
Why clearing snow from hydrants matters:
- Snow-covered hydrants can delay access to water during a fire.
- Every second counts when protecting lives, homes, and property.
- A buried hydrant may be impossible to locate in an emergency.
If you notice a hydrant that’s buried or partially covered, please help by clearing at least 3 feet of snow around it and creating a clear path from the street. That small action could make a lifesaving difference.
