Traffic Advisory: Route 54 Reconstruction Project
On Monday, September 22 through Friday, September 26 a lane shift will be in effect for concrete flatwork on Route 54 (12th Street) from Monroe Avenue to Chew Road in Hammonton.
All road work will take place from 7a.m. to 5p.m. Motorists should expect delays and seek alternate routes, especially during peak travel times. Please exercise caution when in the area. Your patience during this inconvenience is greatly appreciated. Thank you.


- On Monday, September 8 through Wednesday, September 10 a single lane, alternating traffic pattern will be in effect for concrete flatwork on Route 54 (Bellevue Avenue) from Packard Street to Vine Street in Hammonton.
- On Thursday, September 11 to Friday, September 12 a shoulder closure will take place for concrete flatwork on Route 54 (Bellevue Avenue) from Horton Street to 2nd Street in Hammonton.
- On Monday, September 8 a shoulder closure will take place curb work on Route 54 (Bellevue Avenue) from 2nd Road to Chew Road in Hammonton.
- On Tuesday, September 9 through Friday, September 12 a shoulder closure will take place for curb work on Route 54 (12th Street) from the A.C. Expressway to 2nd Road in Hammonton.

August 9th, 2025 Traffic Advisory: Route 54 (Bellevue Avenue) in both directions is scheduled to be closed due to NJ TRANSIT railroad crossing work and track replacement in Hammonton. The area will be closed to traffic, at the intersection between Railroad Avenue and Egg Harbor Road from Friday, August 22 through Friday, August 29. Work will take place from 7a.m. to 5p.m. each day. A traffic detour will be in place. Railroad work is subject to change due to inclement weather. Motorists should expect delays and seek alternate routes especially during peak travel times. Please exercise caution when in the area. Your patience during this inconvenience is greatly appreciated. PSA: Work on the Route 54 reconstruction project will begin early June. Roadway resurfacing, concrete flatwork and signal upgrades will take place from the Atlantic City Expressway to Route 30 (White Horse Pike). Drivers can expect temporary lane shifts, shoulder closings and traffic detours throughout the project’s timeline.
