Hammonton Spray Message August 22, 2018

“Weather permitting, the Atlantic County Office of Mosquito Control plans to

treat parts of Hammonton as part of its ongoing effort to control adult mosquitoes. The first area to be treated is bounded by Packard St., Fairview Ave., Thirteenth St., Grand St., Passmore Ave., Egg Harbor Rd. and Grape Street.”

“The second area to be treated is bounded by Egg Harbor Rd., Lakeview Ave., Lakeshore Dr., White Horse Pike and Weymouth Rd.”

“Spraying to reduce adult mosquitoes using ground application equipment will take place on Thursday evening, August 23rd, between 8:00pm and 10:30pm. Ground spraying will be done using Scourge, the trade name for resmethrin, applied as an ultra-low volume aerosol.”

The EPA does not require relocating or taking special precautions during mosquito control spraying, people may choose to avoid or minimize exposure by:

* Staying indoors during application to immediate area

* Keeping windows shut, window fans and air conditioners off (or set to circulate indoor air) during spraying

* Keeping children’s toys indoors

* Keeping pets indoors, as well as their food, water dishes and toys.

For health information about the pesticides to be applied to this area, call the County Office of Mosquito Control at 609-645-5948.

The Atlantic County Office of Mosquito Control collected two WNV positive mosquito pools in Hammonton. We plan to conduct a truck ULV spray on Tuesday, August 21, between 8:00 pm and 10:00 pm. This is weather dependent.

Hopefully this will help reduce the number of pedestrians in the area during the spray window.

Thank you,
