FULL-TIME GROUNDS MAINTENANCE WORKER Qualified candidates must possess a valid New Jersey Driver’s License. Commercial Pesticide and Commercial Fertilizer Applicator Licenses are preferred but not required. Under direction, perform routine work in the care and maintenance of outdoor areas such as gardens, park grounds, recreational areas, lawns, athletic fields and courts, and indoor/outdoor turf. The candidate will be required to safely operate a variety of equipment, tools, and machinery used to care for and maintain grounds. 40-hour work week, starting salary will be commensurate with experience.   With the construction of the new turf field at Moss Mill Park underway, representatives of Town Council, St. Joseph Academy, Parks Commission, and HYSA gathered for a ceremonial groundbreaking this morning. The turf field will serve as the home field for St. Joseph Academy's Wildcats and the Hammonton Youth Soccer Association. We are very excited to be able to offer a turf recreation option to the youth of Hammonton. At the February 27, 2023, Town Council meeting, Mayor and Council voted unanimously to move forward with the acquisition of the property located at 236 Bellevue Avenue; formerly known as Wells Fargo Bank and historically known as The Peoples Bank. The purchase price of the property is $675,000 with a down payment amount of $10,000. The Town is exploring grant opportunities that will pay for 100% of the acquisition cost. The town was recently made aware that a form regarding water testing was not sent to NJDEP in a timely manner. This matter was discussed at the February 27, 2023, Town Council meeting under the Water & Sewer report. A public notice will be mailed soon to all Hammonton Water Department users with details. Our public water system remains safe based on subsequent testing that was performed. No further action, other than the public notice, is required by the town or the residents at this time. The Hammonton Police Department will be hosting a Prescription Drug collection Day on 2/25/2023 from 9 am till 1 pm. Hammonton residents are asked to bring their unwanted prescription drugs on the collection date and time to be safely and properly disposed of. The Hammonton Police Department has participated in medication collection initiatives for years. The drug collection box that we had affixed in our lobby was being improperly used and had almost life-threatening consequences.
